Jacob Sivak

 

Dr. Jacob Sivak is a retired professor in the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo.  His scientific research has contributed to a better understanding of how the eye develops, with Sivak Photoemphasis on the effect of the early visual environment on ocular optical function.  He was trained as an optometrist at the Universite de Montreal and then completed a PhD in Physiology at Cornell University.  He joined the University of Waterloo in 1972 and has held a number of university administrative posts.  Sivak’s research has led to a number of awards and academic distinctions.  He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2002 and he continues to pursue his research interests as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus.
