Paul Charles Merkley was born and educated in Toronto and taught History for over forty years in Canada as well as in California. He has been a visiting Professor of American Studies at the  Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Among several books, his most recent was American Presidents, Religion and Israel (Praeger, 2004). He has delivered scholarly papers on Christian Zionism in Israel, Canada and the United States and is active with the Canadian branch of International Christian Embassy, Jerusalem. He served as Foreign Policy Advisor to Stockwell Day, MP, for six years (2004-2010) and is currently at work on a book on Canadian Conservatives and Israel.
